Up to 7k, 4 door, manual, fast

Not for me but helping a friend and want to make sure we are not missing something obvious. Criteria:

Up to 7k
Has to have 4 doors
Has to have a manual box
Has to be relatively fast

His main focus currently is the mk5 golf r32 or accord type r (rare and hard to find a good one now).

He has ruled out the Focus ST and Octavia VRS.

I’m going to assume he means 5-door as he seems to be focussed on hatchbacks. Would he go for a true 4-door?

May be worth looking at the Edition 30 too, with a reputable remap they make around 300 bhp which makes them a very quick car.
Can be difficult to find a good one though.
The R32 although sounds great isn’t that quick and tax cost is high.

Actually quite a lot of choice out there.

Sticking with VAG maybe a Leon Cupra if he can live with the interior.

Thank you all so far. To answer the question about 4 or 5 door, either is fine and actually he prefers saloons but will consider anything with 4 or 5 doors.

8p s3 or golf ed30 with some subtle mods will see 360-370bhp.

Accords and r32s are not really fast anymore.

Mk7 fiesta st if you want something axtualy fun to drive instead of traffic light GPs

This. Any of the type R Accords ( there's three) The original R and the Euro R both have the H22 engine, then there's the newer cl7 w the k20.
The Euro R and the cl7 are both Japanese models.

Atr may only be 200 and a bit bhp, but it's also about the handling. These were the last Hondas to have wishbone front ends. If you like wiggly roads you should definitely try one if you can find one, there not really common. Oh and they're appreciating classics.

Plenty of options there.

BMW 130i has been mentioned a couple of times but you'll get a much better 330i for similar money, or maybe a 335i for a bit more performance!
