I’m looking to buy a cheap estate for tip runs, taking the dogs the park and shopping trip. I’ve found an Omerga that looks okay. Any advice:

I'm usually approving of a shed estate, but that's verging on too cheap. Once the trader costs in a flimsy warranty, and a quick sponge, there's no point selling it, unless he inherited it from his grandad. Eyes wide open.

Maybe, just maybe if the seller put 12 months MOT on it. It has a short MOT (Feb next year) and the recent tests are pretty woeful. It is clearly rotten and I would be doubtful it would pass another one.

I would pass on that personally unless the miraculous-backstreet-garage-clean-MOT-on-a-rustbucket fairy waves her wand over it.

It's literally rotten along one side, there are better sheds out there

You'll spend the same again on fuel every 2000 miles if you use it for driving round town.

Stop looking on autotrader for £1500 snotters. FB Marketplace, eBay and Gumtree is where it's at.

[quote=Mr.Nobody]I’ve found this Honda:

If you want to pop dogs in the back and do the occasional tip run, you wanted the tourer, not the saloon.

If you can find a nice low owner 2.0 petrol tourer within budget, you are laughing.

Not necessarily, picked up a proper good "snotter" Vauxhall on AT, part ex to clear for £1k from dealer, so not always bad.

FB is the pits sometimes, dealing with utter oddballs, but may get lucky, part the reason I ain't on there no more.

I’ve seen the rust. You would have to see it in person to look at how bad it is. You don’t see many of them and it’s basically a cheap mode of transportation for work and weekends. I’ve also found a Saab 9-5

Pretty sure post March 2006 9-5 autos are high VED. Manuals are still the lower rate.

They are. Hard trying to find a manual. I wouldn’t mind an auto tbh.
