Anyone know this car? XC70/pistonheads sticker

Hey,

Looking for a XC70 with a relatively low budget. This has meant I'm looking at 150k plus miles cars. After a brilliant conversion with someone who is knowledgeable I'm aiming for a 'P3' >07 car.

I've found this. As you'll see its got a pistonheads sticker on the rear. Anyone on here know it? Any info would be gratefully recieved.

Where is said car? Looks a bit Scotland (ish) given the background, houses and brown tourist board signs? If so then some of the Scottish based Facebook pages might also be a good place to look. That said, I'm just trying to remember what the plate was on my old one that I sold a few years back! I also have one now, bought at the very lowest end of the P3 market with 200,000 miles on it. Feel free to give me a shout if you need any questions answered and if you're in Central Scotland and want a poke round one, again happy to help.

Thanks for the offer Davie - Gumtree/Glasgow but pics look Fintry/Lennoxtown direction. I'm S.Side Glasgow if your anywhere close. I'd love to see/sit in one in the flesh before I bother sellers poking around!

Thanks. I'm caught between. To be honest I'd happily take either as I like the look of both but the advice I've been given is source a P3 if I can as they are a little more modern inside. I reckon the one I've posted is a 4c car meaning potential pita suspension which I might prefer to avoid!

Yep, that car has 4CS dampers (the 3 buttons in front of the gear shift).

I specifically wanted a car with the 4CS: yes, it's expensive to fix if you're not handy with the spanners, but I reckon it's worth all the potential hassle as it gives the car that extra edge.

I test drove a P2 with the 'fixed' dampers and didn't really like it - the ride was a bit wallowy for my taste (but I am used to a Volvo Amazon with a 30mm drop on progressive springs, uprated dampers and a full set of polybushes!).

An XC70 will never be the best handling car as that's not what they are about, but I'd always go for the 4CS given the choice.

Coming from CR-V's so not looking for a sporty ride. Will spend the majority of its time on motorway and often nose to tail traffic! Want a comfortable car with the capability of swallowing a family, labrador, pull a caravan and all that entails.

Also considering looking at this one. P2 but how do you tell its got the 4cs on a P2?

Glad to see you’ve found the owner.

I’m on my second, I had the 3.2 V6 in P2 form with 260,000 miles and currently have the D5 in P3 form with 160,000 miles - they handle the miles surprisingly well. Brilliant cars, good luck with the purchase.

That P2 does not have 4CS: if you look at the row of buttons just in front of the gear-lever, you'll see only only one button is 'real' and the rest are blanks. Look at image 12 on this add (hover to zoom) and you'll see what I mean.

Preference is a subjective matter... you need to drive both cars and find which YOU prefer.

I went for a P2 as they are regarded as being more 'Volvo'. Nothing wrong with the P3 but they share a lot more parts with the Mondeo and (some people) regard them as not as solidly built. It just depends on what you're used to - I don't really 'get' modern cars: the newest car I ever owned before this 2007 XC was a XR4X4 on a 1990 H plate. Electronic handbrakes etc. that you find on a P3 are a step to far for me.

Not a luddite (I work in web publishing) but I don't like technology on cars that is put there just 'because'.
