I have been noticing recently that when enquiring about cars for sale from Sytner dealerships, is that the cars have always "just sold", regardless of whether the car has been for sale for a few hours or even weeks.

I have also noticed that the exact same cars that have been for sale privately for weeks that never sold, get part exchanged by the owner at a dealership, who massively inflate the price and then the car magically sells almost straight away? I'm not sure if these buyers realise they could have had the exact same car for thousands less.

Do networked dealers like Sytners post fake adverts to generate interest etc and the cars aren't actually for sale?

I've noticed that Cambria Motorparks list their cars at using the same ad and registration number at multiple dealerships. So you're never sure where the car is actually located. If I'm looking at a car, it could be in Surrey or East Kent, and the first thing I'll do is discount purchasing from them as I CBA to ring them.
