Stylish rural economy second car suggestions

My friends wife suddenly decided she wanted to buy my Boxster.

I didn't actually have it for sale but am selling up and moving overseas

So we went for a test drive.

Loves the car but they have had Range Rovers and Defenders for years.

We came to the conclusion that however much she loved the look of the 2004 Boxster it wasn't right for her.

So the question is as the title. No lease. Around 7k

Define ‘rural’? Proper rural you need ground clearance and four wheel drive, so you’re not going to get ‘stylish’ and economical at that price.

If you just needs decent winter traction with some stylish looks then an Audi TT with Quattro and winter tyres should fit the bill.

Ex girl friend had an XKR. I am talking economy cars. Possibly MX5 but they rust. A decent hatch would be better

Maybe. Rural is the Lake District. All we get is rain so 4WD not required as they have a Defender

Then I’d suggest the requirement is just for a stylish, economical car. Shame the Fiat 124 isn’t in price range; I like those and the last one I saw sounded quite nice as well. I’m going to throw in the Alfa Brera as an option then - with the V6 if ‘economical’ stretches to it.

hGuess this boils down to an economy hatch that has some style.
Winter tyres on the front can cope with anything in this area so 4WD not required
Only issue is 4WD getting stuck and blocking the road

Why wasn't it right?

I live quite rural, but once I am off my road, about 500metres, all the roads are quite normal, so real restrictions.

We don't get snow though, but if it's a second car, is that a problem?

Do they have a garage?

I think the 4x4 looks better than the standard model.,but again 4 wheel drive is not a requirement
