WBAC - selling a scrapper

Has anybody used WBAC to offload a scrapper? Any good? If you drive it in do they still want to go over it and hammer the value down? I can't get a flat value out of them, the website still wants to go through the usual valuation process.

I've got a running, MOT'd but shagged 9-3 to get rid of, I've had a reasonable offer from elsewhere but WBAC are still beating them, but I presume they'll still want to reduce their offer when it gets there. In which case I'd be tempted to let the other mob come and pick it up and take the loss for the convenience.

Also interested in this, as I'll be getting rid of something similar in a few months.

There should be an option for "scratches and dents and marks all over, inside and out, and no it wasn't main dealer serviced last year"

The faff of dealing with WBAC would make me just put it on eBay with a 99p reserve, lots of clear pics and a concise description. Chances are you'll get shut with minimal faff.

What faff?

When I sold my car to them I booked a time slot turned up he looked round the car offered me a good price and I had 3 days to decide with the price fixed. Far less faff than using eBay.

OP just book a time slot and see what they say?

I recently sold my car to them when the power steering motor failed, making it uneconomical to repair.

Disclosing the fault online, they offered me £600 less than book price. Took it down to them, expecting to be knocked down further, but they paid up no problem.

Car was an 11 year old Mini Countryman for reference.

Had similar recently, albeit with a MOT failure. Missus just wanted to scrap it, we were offered £305. WBAC wouldn't take it as less than 3 months MOT... ended up putting it on eBay for £305 start price, and ended up with £600 so was worth the hassle in the end to double our money

Lucky escape, was that the one that the motor set the car alight when it failed?

We took my father in laws Astra to them after he died. Full service history, 12 years old, under 30K miles (newsagents/tescos and back) but scraped on every corner. Opening offer was £80, which we got to £300. We had tried to sell it locally, it would have made a great cheap run around for someone

I suspect if you call them to book in then you wouldn’t need to describe the condition however as they’re in office blocks in random places I suspect you can’t just arrive.

I know of a couple of their sites in West Yorkshire where they are basically a portacabin in a car park with a sign outside and I believe with those you can literally roll up and they will give you a price.

As long as your honest in the description and clearly list of the scratches / dents etc you should get close to what they offer online.

You can always refuse their offer and scrap it.

My nearest one is in a supermarket car-park.
