I'm looking to buy an every day sports car for the next 12-24 months which won't cost massive amounts of money and won't depreciate massively.

I know that these are very different cars but I drove both of these on Saturday and I like both. smile

Based on above which one would you pick?

Porsche for me.

Drives quite similar except is a PDK and also way way more practical. Impractical cars can really become annoying after a while.

The Audi, being much older, is likely at or close to the bottom of its depreciation curve, whereas the Porsche isn't yet and will likely continue to shed value at quite a rate over the next 1-2 years.

Seems odd to be comparing a £75k 911 with a £39k R8?

Surely a similarly priced and age R8 like this would make more sense as depreciation looks similar?

Agree with the above post. Comparing a 991.1 911 to an old R8 is a strange comparison. Granted the R8 may not depreciate as much, but if Porsche prices stay how they are now I can’t see the 991 dropping much either. There is a lot of options at £75k.

Out of those two I’d go for the GTS, great cars.

You are also in the same price bracket as a 991 Turbo which is probably a better daily sports car than both the R8 and the GTS.

Noticed the OP ad's are all in NI so wondered if there was a dearth of R8's over there but there are a handful. These two might be a better comparison:
