Perrys used car warranty- yes or no?

£299/12 or £399/24 months, all conveniently available over 8 months 0%.

My gut instinct says no one of these aftermarket warranties are with the paper they are printed on, and should just save my money…

Any thoughts ?

Car would be 17 plate 31k miles Seat petrol….

We’re probably not going to know what the exact terms and conditions are of that warranty but consumer rights legislation should be of comfort if you decide not to take the warranty. Unless there’s any common and expensive faults that crop up with that model of car I’d leave it

How does it compare with SEAT's own extended warranty? (Price & terms)

I only ask as I have had VW's extended warranties over the years & found them to be very fair.

That's my experience as well.

If the manufacturer extended warranty is not competitive for you then just put the money aside into a bank account that you would spend on the warranty. If something goes wrong the funds are hopefully there to cover it. If nothing goes wrong then you've still got the cash.

2sb- not been offered Seat option, only the std Perry’s deal.

Bob- yelp, self insuring was my though as well.

They make it sound attractive is it’s 8 months interest free if required.

My experience of these things is they usually find some reason to not payout or make you use a dealer miles away etc.

Can't remember who it was with but the used car warranty that came with Mrs Cupcakes car wasn't worth the paper it was written on.

Seat will sell you a 2-year warranty/2 services/2 MOTs/2 year breakdown cover on a Seat car over 3 years old for just under £40/month. Sometimes offered at a discount. It is from Seat, not a 3rd party.

The reason why Perry's are pushing their own warranty is that they make a huge margin out of it. They don't bother offering the proper manufacturers warranty. Personal opinion is that dealer group warranties are total rubbish. Original manufacturer ones are the way to go.

OP critically important in these matters is to read the agreement carefully and ask for clarification about any and all bits you're not absolutely 100% clear about.

If it seems over complicated and / or written in a way that is unclear, wafflely or hard to understand then generally that's a red flag

My experience of third party warranties is that whilst most things appear to be covered, they invariably get exempted under the "wear and tear" get out. Much better to go with the manufacturer extended warranty.

As junior spoon has just kicked the crap out of my kidneys, I'm awake and having thoughts.....

I'm sure the part has to fail completely before it can be covered also.
