Merc SLK - 2012 172 model - looking to buy

having looked at some rusty 2006/07 models (the 171) and read the recent rather worrying thread on here about a shockingly rusty one I thought to up the budget and go for the newer 172 series, most likely with the 250 diesel model
However now wondering if MB bothered to improve things, and thus in a few more years will we see this model of SLK also rusting more than most cars.
Anyone have any knowledge re whether the 172 model is an better ?

To be honest with you that car was the exception rather than the rule all cars suffer with rust on the underside (if you've found any with rust on the bodywork then just walk away) remeber you're looking at cars that are 14+ years old.
The newer car will be better but how well it copes against the elements will partly be down to how well you look after it.
