Is this a good PCP deal -Toyota Yaris Hybrid
Discussion
Whilst I’d agree with the posts above on getting secondhand it does depend on whether you want a Yaris or the latest 2021 model Yaris which is a new model and quite different.
Toyotas aren’t cheap, getting a few grand off the price and zero interest is a nice deal for a new car.
Think you’ll be happy keeping the car after 3 years and paying the final balloon payment? If so then maybe a good deal.
I’d guess that after 3.5 years the car would be worth more than £10k so could buy it and sell it.

In itself under £250 per month for a decent quality new car seems pretty good to me; it's not 2015 any more and the days of Golf Rs for 50p per month are long gone. So if it must be a new small car then I'm sure this is an OK deal. However...you'll be paying close to £1 for every mile you drive it over the 42 month term. I can't get my head round that sort of figure even for much more expensive family cars, so for a Yaris it seems pretty mad (and I like Yarises, I've got one).
If you're only doing 3k per year I'd buy a lightly used Kia & you'll get everything you list & still have the bulk of the 7 year warranty left.

It works out at £55 per week if you add the payments to the deposit over the 3.5 years.
And it'll be likely worth more than the final payment so sell it just before final payment is due and you'll get a bit back.
Of course there's cheaper cars out there, but for one of those new Yaris models I'd be happy with that deal.

Have you driven one?
The engine/box combination is horrible, the CVT is either max revs or tickover, I had the 'pleasure' of one as a hire car for a few days and it really was the worst thing I have ever driven, I'd make sure you can put up with the row from the engine before you sign on the dotted line.

My wife had one for 2 years, they’re great around town, awful on motorways. The engine/box combination is horrible, the CVT is either max revs or tickover, I had the 'pleasure' of one as a hire car for a few days and it really was the worst thing I have ever driven, I'd make sure you can put up with the row from the engine before you sign on the dotted line.

There is a certain style of driving that suits the Toyota hybrid drive train. The trick is to drive it just below the "flare" point of the transmission - you can then make decent, smooth, ridiculously economical progress. The max revs thing only really becomes a problem if you're the type of driver who just mashes the pedal to the floor.
As others have said, just get a loan and buy a used one outright. It won't go wrong and comes with a 10y/100k warranty even if it does.

Maybe, however when you are driving on an A road at 50/60mph on cruise and you encounter the slightest incline the car just gives itself max revs to maintain it's speed rather than accelerate gently, same on motorways, it's fine round town but on the open road it's not fit for purpose in my opinion, and I'm not a driver who mashes any pedals.Scrump said:
£10k for the use of a Yaris for 3.5 years.
There are 2019 Yaris for sale from Toyota for under £10k, I would rather buy one of those but I realise some people like the reassurance of a brand new car.
Can you add a link for these, we are desperate for stock and 2019, low mileage, Hybrid Yaris are like gold dust at the moment. Most of ours sell for mid-high teens. I’d say it’s a good deal.
To buy a used one (latest gen) will cost you nearly the same as a new one and if financing you will need to pay interest.
Also, new cars like these are holding their value very well at the moment, these small hybrids will be popular for a while as people transition from ICE to EV further strengthening the future value.
I would go for it.

This model (the latest gen) has moved on a bit from the last one. I’ve had one of these for a week as a loan car and it was absolutely fine at motorway speed.
Regarding lowering the mileage, 8k is the lowest Toyota will quote on.

I didn’t say these were hybrids, but then at the OPs mileage I don’t think it would make much difference to their fuel costs.
