Like a moron I've allowed my lease to run down and have been denied a further extension so I'm now in the position of having to find a lease or purchase a car in 7 weeks.
Given the current lease market, my chances of finding anything in stock at a reasonable price is almost zero. I'm therefore thinking buying is my best option although its painful looking at cars which are 3 or 4k above where they would have been 2 years ago.
I've a budget of 15k. Do a daily commute of 22 miles each way which is pretty much all motorway so a diesel is an option under those conditions. I'm leaning towards the Insignia linked below or one similar. Is there anything I should be aware of before taking the plunge or any better suggestions for something fairly bullet proof and unlikely to cost me a fortune in bills.
No family or pets so can get away with any size of car really. Just nice to have decent boot space or atleast decent space with rears folded down to fit golf bags and trolleys in.

As above you'll get a current Insignia in Elite Nav 170 form

The other option is the Mazda6 in Sport Nav 160, good cars but I'd take the Insignia over one.

I have driven a number of Insignia's over the years as short term hire cars and the VX Line cars I have driven have rock hard suspension. Personally I would avoid the VX Line and pick an Elite or other spec car.
The model year you have picked is not a bad car, preferred it over the Audi A4 I had for the couple of months before.
