My friend has finally narrowed his car down to a SAAB. He is thinking of getting a Petrol 2.0T as he is now looking to get his wife a car as her company car is going back. She has found a RCZ

Any advice on them?

He found this at a local dealer £6k 55k miles

You don't say which engine the RCZ has - if it is the 1.6 petrol turbo, then I'd suggest doing your homework on the Prince engine that I think is shared with the Mini Cooper S.

Parents had an RCZ (180THP) and it was pretty good. I didn't get on with the gearbox, though.

Sister in law had the 1.6 turbo found in the R56 Cooper S. She had issues with it, EML light and running issues mainly.

I had a friend with a R56 with the same engine and he had major issues, needing a full engine rebuild. As stated, do you're homework before you buy.

If she goes for the RCZ then make sure it's a 200bhp model as that has the upgraded internals (basically it's the 208 GTI engine) timing chain tensioner etc:

Thanks for the heads up. I will tell them to look at the 2.0. Bit off topic but what do we think of the Saab?

Not a Saab guy, so not much I'm afraid.

At £6k I would be looking at other things personally. Depends what her requirements are, but some decent cars available within that budget.

Nice enough car but way overpriced, much better out there as suggested.
I sold my 2008 estate version 2 years ago for £1500, did have high mileage though.

Never drove a RCZ. But I always looked at them as one of those cars which should have been RWD and had it been I would have probably bought one. Like the Alfa GTV, Fiat Coupe, Laguna coupe and so on. Honourable mention the Alpine GTA, if it was mid engine instead of rear engine,
