Hi everyone,

I am looking to purchase either a Ferrari F430 Spider in Rosso Corsa or a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 and I wanted to know which would be the best to buy? I’m looking to spend under £90k and I want to buy a car which would have the lower maintenance costs (in terms of servicing and parts), and would also maintain its value better. I love both cars so much as they have been dreams ever since I was a child hence the difficult decision.

I am 22 years old, so which would be the car for me?

Thank you everyone.

The simple answer is which ever your prefer on the test drive when you're down to two cars it really comes down to this, neither are cheap maintenance wise.

Join an owners club forum for both & you'll get more detailed answers.

Prob the Ferrari but I’d try save up more and wait to get a newer car than an old example 👍

If it was me I'd have the f430.
However to answer your question go with the lambo on the pretence its owned by VAG. The engines shared with the rs6, interior from an rs4/r8 and it'll share most bits with an R8.

Well done for being able to afford such a car at that age. I would say your insurance will be high but I guess spending 80k means very little when insurance is a few thousand.

I would also suggest the lambo as it part of the VAG group.

Please do let us know how much the Insurance quote is !

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all of your responses. Such a great community!

I had a look at some F430’s and Gallardo’s and for me, I just leaned towards the Ferrari!

Thank you very much for your kind words, but my father is buying this for myself and himself to use, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I wish I too could afford something like this on my own one day!

Insurance worked out to just under £2,000 for the year!

Thank you!

I presume the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 would also be a Spyder?

Understandable, I think with 'fun' cars it's a very personal decision. If you've got some spare time, check out mwstewart's legendary thread about his F430s here - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... - quite a bit of detailed information in there along the way.

I'd go for the Ferrari purely on the basis that Robbie Savage used to drive a Gallardo.

That said, I do like the R8 (a poor man's Gallardo :-))

I know where there is a very nice late model black 430 spider with the right spec for sale comfortably in your budget.
