Private sale finance involved

After waiting a long time found a car I really like, its a private for sale car. Guy sent lots of pics etc. and all seems good. On the video walk around (as he is 3 hrs away) he mentions he bought it on finance. He said he will pay it off in front of me once I buy the car as he needs the funds for the finance payment.

Im nervous. I don't feel like there is any deception involved but slightly miffed I didn't know about this from the off as we have been chatting for a couple of weeks now.

How quickly do HPI checks come up with green against finance once its paid off online?

You can call the finance company and pay them whilst you’re with him get the ok from them and pay and difference to him?

When you view the car and decide to buy it call the finance company and you pay the settlement figure directly, get a receipt emailed to you and you pay the owner the balance of the agreed price minus the settlement figure.
