Hi All,

Im looking to buy a Merc CLA Shooting brake around 16/17 plate for 12-14k....looks to be some decent ones going through BCA at the moment but you can only buy from them if you have a trading account and you can only get a trading account with Motor trade insurance.

Can anyone recommended a trader or website that will buy from BCA on your behalf?

I am not sure how much luck you will have with this, a dealer will not likely want the risk of buying something for you, sight unseen, in the event you reject it and they are stuck with it. BCA will sell to the public however at present it is online sales only due to Covid which I find a bit weird - i can sit in a cinema with 200 other people for nearly 3hrs and watch James Bond but can't stand in an auction hall??

You may be better to befriend a local independent and have a chat with them and sound them out, they might be prepared to do it but realise unless something is wrong/mis-described you can't reject it so your buying it whatever. Other than that wait until the halls open again which can't be that far away................can it?????

Si

Have you looked at what they've been making in the auctions at the moment? I would've thought something like that would be making £1500 more than CAP clean.

Be much cheaper and easier buying from a dealer.

Most cars in BCA and Mannheim are getting up to 25% over Cap clean and this looks set to continue for some considerable time.

BCA won't reopen to physical sales although Mannheim have 3 sites open and are intending more.

I did wonder if the price going through BCA would be higher, but Ive seen some dealers who have obviously brought them from BCA (use the same pictures from BCA, with the "White office background') to sell on Autotrader for around £14-£15k so they must be getting them cheaper.

Ive been googling 'Trade Buying Service' and can see a few companies offering this service, but am a little wary after reading what happened with flipping cars etc.

Has anyone used SVS Cars or auctionbuyers4u and had any decent experience with them?

Did you have any joy with this?

I've been considering the same thing and seen a few cars go through which I haven't be able to have access to.

There's talks of BCA never opening their doors again to the general public.

Does seem a shame that you cant skip out that middle man and the extra additional cost.

I have a mate who has a BCA account, and knows someone who works at Blackbushe.

But he hasn't bought anything from them for quite a while as hammer prices seem way too high!

When he was looking for a Boxster for a relative he bought one privately much cheaper than the one he had seen at BCA.

I looked at this and deemed it too high risk as anybody willing to buy wanted full cash in account.google flipping cars.

Although I’d bought several cars from bca as a private buyer pre pandemic it’s now very difficult to get a trade account with them, I do have a Mannheim account, however prices are way over private purchase levels due to scarcity and without viewing risks are high.

Not all are doing that but i've tried buying cars from Manheim that even excluding the fee have sold for more than you can buy one from a franchise dealer on autotrader. Very few bargains to be had.

Market has to crash at some point....

No chance of a crash. And for a long time too.

Both Mannheim and BCA just posted their accurate market reports and I have posted these on the used car thread.

Quite remarkable how strong the market is still going into October and most think prices will continue rising for a considerable time to come too.

Average prices are now over 40% more expensive on average than 12 months ago!.

It'd not helped by the fact that most buyers think of monthly affordability or the likes of autrotrader putting 'great price' on listings skillfully avoiding saying it'd well over cap so 'high price'. It'd wake up alot of potential buyers.

I pulled out of buying a main dealer car last week. They automatically readvertised it 2k more and it sold within 2 days!

I was already potentially paying 1k over top dealer book for it. The scratches all round that i discovered on viewing and the dealers 'we ain't bothering touching that up' made me walk

Hi guys, I am looking to buy again at Auction! Bought in the past a few cars at BCA/Manheim with Chris (flipping cars)....shame he went bust and lost customers money.

It seem someone is still offering the service...…might be still Chris from the address
https://carauctionbuyingservice.co.uk/

perhaps best autotrader privately? I am looking to by something nearly new (max 2 year max 8000 miles) so BCA and Manheim seems a good place but without registration cannot verify prices. Should be 2000-3000 less than forecourt but many dealers sell their retuned leased cars so they can be quite cheap.

I feel I might be able to register as a trader but the cost of trade insurance and the highest fees due to low volumes will mean the car might be cheaper at the dealer!

I also have a friend that is a dealer but does not have an account with BCA. I could work with him to open an account but still perhaps not worth for one/two cars....

Any experience/suggestion?

Just buy from a dealer.

You will have far more protection and it will be far easier.

Do you seriously want the potential hassle for a small saving?
