I just wanted to pass on my recent experience.....
As some of us occasionally do I put my cars into these car buying sites just to have a look see.
I have a 14 month old Civic Type R in grey (a fantastic car!) and have been watching the prices creep up recently with all this car pricing madness that seems to be happening ATM.
I paid £30990 for it from a main dealer full service, warranty etc.
I received a price of £35275 from Wewantanycar.com which made me curious so while not looking to sell I thought I would pursue it just to see....
You know what's coming! I did......
The price was the same Sat and a guy was coming to to check/value the car today (Mon am).
About an hour before the guy was due I get a call from the Head office saying the market has fluctuated and the price is now £32000.
Now I don't mind if they want to turn up and check the car over and quibble about money and have a haggle. Im not really looking to sell the car but was tempted by the high offer so thought I'd see but this was different. This was trying to take the Mick.
I politely declined his generous offer and told him not to bother coming but then I get a call from the guy who's coming to value the car and he was nearby so I was happy for him to stop and take a look.
The guy who came to look at the Type R was himself into cars and hot hatches and loved the Type R. He agreed and said it was mint(it is) and we had a chat as two petrolhead do and he rang the office to see why they had suddenly dropped the offer price by £3275. They said market price etc.
Now I'm a bit annoyed as I was up at 8am moving the car so it could be viewed easier and I had removed the K&N panel filter to put it back to stock.
I was half prepared for this as I'm sure most of you guys on here would be but I just wanted to pass on my experience with this rabble.
They also go under several names including Money4yourmotors.com and possibly another which I can't remember.
Interestingly the price in We Buy Any Car has been creeping up and is at £33425 ATM.
I don't normally post much on here but I just wanted to share this.
Anyhow at least me and a friend can go in the Type R now to Caffeine & Machine Weds eve and not his Mum's crappy banger as his Subaru is off the road.

So you were not looking to sell? They contacted you first?

Annoyed? But you're not looking to sell?

How were they 'taking the mick' exactly? They contacted you to say the offer had changed prior to him turning up? If he had turned up and then said the price had gone down then I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

If anything, it's you taking the mick by wasting their time as you werent really wanting to sell? If you genuinely wanted to just get a price, put dummy data into the website.

Due to current volatility in the used car market, prices are fluctuating.

Places like autotrader instant offer (who use this company) guarantee the price you are initially quoted, so this can't happen once you've been offered a sale price (unless you are dishonest on your online assessment of your vehicle.

I would have sold at around the initial offer price.
I thought a few keyboard heroes would come out for a chops.
Is that a bit clearer?

A had a similar experience with them selling a GLC coupe. Online offer was £33200. Car was mint and 2018 15,000miles.
Called head office and they said £30k, no thanks.

Ended up getting £33k from wbac

Thread revival but wanted to post a positive review of we want any car without starting a new thread

Used them yesterday, initial valuation was considerably better than we buy any car and they didn't play any silly games other than knock it down for things I completely expected them to knock it down for (bumped it last week!).

I have had both good and very bad experiences with we buy any car, seems like the luck of the draw and the type of person you get on the day.

At least these days there are a number of options so if they mess you about you can always try a different company. Personally I wouldn't hesitate to use we want any car again but would definitely shop around between them (assuming I couldn't be arsed to sell privately).

I got paid instantly and no admin fee as it's been waived for December, I asked the bloke if he was busy and he said it's slow for them at this time of year, so that may have played into my experience being so good i.e. no messing on Price and no fees.. although fee or no fee I'd have been 1500 quid worse off with WBAC.

I used We Want Any Car in Jan/Feb this year and can only really say positive things too. The main annoyance is you can't just book and manage appointments online - all has to be done over the phone.

Car would sell at a dealer for around £10k. They offered £8.5k online - £2.5k more than any of the other mass buyers and £1k more than I got offered on Motorway. I had marked it as having FSH as I looked when I bought it and it was 10 years old and had 11 stamps, but the guy clocked that it actually had 2 in 6 months then missed a year so changed the valuation to part SH. This only knocked £80 off the offer and he never tried to bargain on anything else at all. Money in my account the same day.

I sold a car to we want any car around 3 years ago and they were pretty good in my experience.

My car was a Volvo V60 which I hated, tried selling on eBay and got messers so went to we want any car. I like that they came to my house and did the deal on my drive rather than having to drive to their premises and they paid what they quoted at the initial valuation.

They sent a group to collect it the following day but that was easy as they took keys when they paid me on the initial visit so I was sat in my living room the following day and saw a car pull up, two guys hopped out and into the Volvo and off they went.

Just looking at various options for selling including WWAC, but I notice they take it for a test drive which I don't think I'd be willing to do as claiming off their insurance is likely to be a proper ballache.

I take it the people who have sold to them on here are generally ok with letting them test drive, and didn't have any issues?

Had no issue with them test driving mine.

I suspect if you won’t let them test drive then they won’t be buying your car. Maybe try We Buy Any Car they just move your car a few feet forward and backwards

Thanks for the tip about WBAC. Out of interest, how far did WWAC go when test driving it? I guess if it was just round the block then that could work.

I didn't go with them just gave them the keys but they were gone no more than 5 minutes so can't have gone that far. I gave them directions to a main road where they could get up to 40mph so I assume they went there

I seem to remember the guy said it was 1 mile but I'm not 100% on that. Think he was gone 10 minutes with mine.

No idea where he went or what he did!

Isn't it understandable that someone buying a used car would want to test drive it, who on here would buy a car before they did? If you're that bothered go with them in the passenger seat.

Oh I’m more than happy to take them out for a test drive, no issue with that. It’s the hassle of dealing with any claims on their insurance arising from any prangs.

Short of checking the tracking or testing the brakes I don’t see why they need to be the one to drive it, really.

Sold our 208 GTI to WBAC and there was no test drive.

Whole experience was great and got more than we expected.
