Hello,

I am looking for a relatively fast (0-60 less than say 7 seconds) AWD estate with a £10k budget - looking for off the wall suggestions.

The sub 7 second requirement is the difficult part, sub 8 seconds gives lots more options (eg mazda 6, seat leon).

Depends how old you're prepared to go.

Subaru Legacy GTB.

If newer is a requirement then you might squeeze into a 330d Touring Xdrive.

Out the box. Rare. AWD. Estate.

I give you the Volvo v60 T6.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202105253...

0-6 5.9 Seconds
306BHP

You won't see many of them. Lovely place to sit. Nice refined drive. Power and shove for a big car (1800kg). Totally under the radar. I love a good fast Volvo estate.

Another lovely under the radar car - The Skoda Superb. Available in your budget with a 3.6 v6 engine, 260hp, 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. A very stylish, nice looking, well build estate car that is very much under the radar

Those would be my out of the box choices.

Some great calls here - thanks everyone - I am going to do some trawling....

I need AWD as I live in a semi rural area at the top of a large and very steep hill which gets "interesting" in ice let alone snow

Leon comes in a four wheel drive version, not many about but is raised up a little (I think its sub 8 seconds for the 184 bhp version).

Passat R36?

You see the odd one on eBay/AT, typically Jap imports but occasionally UK cars.

Not a plug for mine as I’ve had an awful lot of interest, but happy to help you with any questions you might have regarding the potential purchase of any other B6 Passat in R form smilesmile

I'd second the Insignia VXR as being a very good car & well worth a test drive:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202102088...

Then there's also the rare Country Tourer that you can get in 190/160 diesel spec:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106093...

508 RXH a bit of a rare car but the drivetrain is very good & reliable

Mercedes R Class a lot of car for your cash as well as being a nice place to be:

R36 good car but I'd take the Insignia

+1 for S4. Might get you the B8 version albeit with higher miles.
I had one and loved it

Some really great suggestions here - and cars I didn't even know existed!
