I’m thinking about downgrading (selling my m3) as i mostly use motorbikes these days and am musing what i could get as a useful tool for 1500+/-10%. Would be the odd work commute, b&q/tip run, mountain bikes, etc.

Few years back i had an xj and really liked it, but time’s moved on. Still love the boxy style though.

Has anyone here still got one and is 1500 realistic for a usable version? Not bothered about the odd ding/scratch.

Good ones are thin on the ground nowadays. They did suffer a good bit from rust and with them being so low value, they weren't looked after.
As a daily, they are comfy enough but the petrol bill will get old pretty quick! I was getting about 16mpg from mine.

I also loved mine and hope there are some still about when I can afford a 3rd vehicle.

I have a Grand Cherokee diesel.

I hate it.
It's slow, it's wayward on the steering, it's slow, it uses loads of fuel, the steering is not connected to the wheels by anything more than hope and anticipation, and it's very slow.
On the plus side, the 4WD system is excellent, it has comfy seats, and it tows well.

Would I have one if I could avoid it. No chance, bloody awful thing.

It's very reliable though. (Oh hang on......)

The Terrano2 I linked to should do all of those things.
