Coming from a 10-12 second car which is painfully boring, time to upgrade. I've been lurking on here and it seems that my best bet is the 208 GTI but I have never driven a french car before and I know in the past there's been a lot of reliability concerns. Is there anything else to consider?

Only requirement I have is 30mpg on motorway as thats the main bit of my journey each day 50mile round trip.

Slightly over budget, but I’m sure you can haggle a bit. I think these are going to start to increase in price pretty soon. I’m sure 30mpg should be possible....... with a light right foot.

This looks nice and will easily achieve your mpg target.

If space really isn’t important this will be very fun and ultra reliable too.

That’s a super fancy special edition. You could easily bag a good one for half your budget.

I bought a mk5 GTI for less than your budget, does 30-36mpg on a run and fun when needed.

The 208 GTI is the pick but because they're the pick they're now getting harder to find at your price point but they're still out there:

They're reliable & a good steer there's no reason not to choose one apart from the fact you can also get a Fiesta ST but you will have to stretch the budget:

Another option is the Abarth Esseesse

Leftfield Option:

C30 T5 R Design a bit softer than the ST & you'll see 28mpg real world

Or go for the ST-3

Avoid the 208, that exhaust drone on constant motorway runs would soon become tedious

0-60 time I guess?

I think the 208 is a good choice. I drove one before buying my Fiesta ST and it seemed like a good car. Ultimately I preferred the Ford for the driving I do but if I was spending time on the motorway it may have been different.

A very basic Ford Fiesta! I stated the 0-60 time cause it's awfully painful on motorways it's at 4500-5000 rpm at 70mph when it eventually gets there.

Looking out for a 208 GTI local to me and will check out the other suggestion as well thanks guys
