BMW Buying Advice
Discussion
I'm buying an X1 at the moment. Lovely looking car, drives beautifully but there is a serious lump taken out of the front alloy. I noticed there are quite a few wheel balancing weights on the alloys too. Is this cause for concern? My best gues is the previous owner was a bit rough parking. Car is 2018. Buying through approved BMW dealer - is it reasonable to get alloys replaced by dealer of knock the price off final purchase? Would you be worries about damage from the kerbing ?
My experience of BMW dealers is that they will be willing to refurb alloys that have damage.
Speak to them, point out the damage and see what they say. You may find they offer to repair it, the cost to them will be less than if you got it done later on and if it makes a sale, they may just do it.
We bought a 330D from a dealer last year, they replaced two tyres for us, one was near the limit and one had a bulge but despite me not even noticing some alloy damage, they went out of their way to refurb two of them which I was pleasantly surprised about.

Chunks out of the wheels plus excessive amounts of wheel weight could mean that the wheels have had it (buckled).
If you are still interested in the car, have them rectify the wheels and tyres and also try to get a tracking check & adjust out of them with a print-out to prove that it is within spec.
