Hi all,

Im going to view an Auris Hybrid tomorrow.

It doesnt have a screen that displays the charge state of the battery, so how do i check the state of the battery?

Thanks

It will have a screen within the dash to show the capacity of the hybrid battery. Somtimes it can be hidden if you don't want it as a 'favourite'. It's in the form of bars that go up and down. Unless the car has gone down hill for a very long way to recharge, you will rarely see all the bars full. The top one nearly never goes blue!
There isn't a graphic to show the state of the 12v battery. This battery only provides power to boot up the computers upon starting. It doesn't actually start the car.
The hybrid battery rarely fails. If the vehicle has a Toyota service history, the car will have undergone the hybrid battery test. When this is done, the battery is given another years warranty, up to the age of 15 years.
If buying from Toyota, don't worry about it. If buying elsewhere, and it's been serviced by Toyota within the last year, again don't worry. Walk away if no history.

I've got a 2018 model, it has never shown all the bars as fully charged, i use b mode frequently for slowing down but it's still never been full. Had 3 hybrid battery checks so i'm not concerned.

Thanks both

The car is bargain basement £5000 2011 model so its unlikely to have a toyota history.

The idea of a failed battery pack doesnt terrify me as im confident i can change the cells myself.

The one im viewing doesnt have a sat nav, just the dispay in the instrument cluster that shoes whether the battery is supplying power or charging.

Im guessing one test would be to drive of on electric only and see how far it will go?

No they dont really work like that. as said you wont see full and you wont see empty, only proper way is to get Toyota to check it i suspect and probably worthhwhile doing imo

The stock sat nav is hopeless so no loss there

As Liner said, it doesn't work that way, if conditions are perfect you can supposedly travel up to a mile on electric, i've never had anything like this, petrol engine comes and goes when it decides. It's no way to check the health i'm afraid.

A quick update.

Ive owned the car almost a week now.

The Dr Prius app came back with 74% battery life which is a good result for a more than 10 year old hybrid car.

Im really happy with the car, its comfy, economical and quite fun
