Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. BMW 320d vs. Jaguar XE

Any experience on the above?

Heart says get the Alfa, it looks stunning, head says BMW.. but also think the Jaguar looks cool.

Excess of 12k per year so looking at the diesel variants, will be replacing a 2015 Octavia vRS TDi and I'll be looking for cars pre-owned 2019 onwards.

if the majority of that mileage is a 20 mile each way commute with charging at each end it could be worth looking at the PHEV options, 330e / Passat GTE will cost more to buy outright but lower VED, almost no fuel costs and potentially better finance deals on PCP as there should be more residual value at the end.

It is more like 500 miles per day, 3-4 times a month.. 12k was a low estimate, after using a calculator more like 16-20k excluding non-work related use.

I'm sure ZX10 will be along shortly..but for a 1-2 year old car for potentially 20k+ miles a year I'd probably look at an insignia diesel. Already depreciated like a stone so under £300/m on HP/Loan and if you've stuck 80k miles on in 4 years then any value left is a bonus.

of the 3, I'd take the 3 series but in reality none are bad cars.

If you're going to be doing between 15-20k a year comfort reliability spec mileage performance & price are the key factors, you seem to want a RWD saloon tbh I'd find the lowest mileage ULEZ compliant version of the cars above & some others I've listed.

If you're going for a 2019 so you can get some warranty most Manufacturers will offer an AUC Warranty on a car that has full service history or after an inspection & service.

The following are all RWD ULEZ compliant saloons with less than 35k on the clock, well spec'd with a decent amount of go & you'll be able to run them for 4-5 years (depending on your annual mileage) before they need any major work :

Infiniti Q50 Sport Tech 170 loaded with kit (adaptive cruise 360 cameras etc) a nice amount of go, Mercedes running gear with Nissan servicing costs.

Out of the above the Infiniti Q50 Sport ticks all the boxes & is a good car but if you don't mind paying the extra then the Alfa is the pick.

With regards to the Infiniti range if you need to know anything just ask, now that they've pulled out of Europe it's actually easier to get them serviced as 90% of the Nissan dealers will service them & any good Indy will be able to work on them as they use the same engine as the C/E220cdi.

Q50 is very nice. Looks great. Very comfy and rare which I like. However in my experience the auto box is borderline dangerous around town hesitation at low speed is awful! Also I struggled to get much over 40mpg in mine.
Always wondered if my gearbox had issues but I was assured it was normal.

Now I have driven a fair few & not had that issue, I have a 2018 Sport Tech facelift model at the moment that I'm sorting for a friend, fuel wise on a run mid to high 50's with the OBD saying mid 60's, around town a real world 38mpg some of that includes two runs into central london this week the OBD says 44mpg.

OP try one a test drive will tell you if it's for you or not.

I thought mine might be defective but infinity insisted it wasnt. It was a lease so I didn't make too much fuss. Nearly caught me out pulling away from roundabouts a couple of times... Rx16ttz is maybe one to avoid!!
