£15k-£16k roomy, nippy, reliable & with toys
Discussion
Used to have an S6 Estate (the 5.2L one). Loved it. Had a couple of problems and, with a kid on the way, changed it about 8 years ago for a top-end Mondeo with around 200bhp. Needless to say, I miss the Audi.
I now have two kids and I’m looking for a car that’s more powerful than the Mondeo but is still reliable (I’ve literally had no problems with it mechanically), and would also like something with toys (e.g. adaptive cruise and Apple CarPlay). It also needs to be properly roomy inside, with a decent boot and good rear legroom.
Best idea at the moment that ticks all the boxes is the Superb 280 but a lower mileage one is still coming in at £19k-£20k, which I just cannot stretch to. Can anyone please suggest alternatives?
Don’t care about the badge really ... more important is driveability and reliability.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I traded my 2016 Superb 280 L&K estate in 2 weeks ago, 28k on the clock and full main dealer history. It's on the forecourt at £17.5k. I thought they would put it up for more than that.I now have two kids and I’m looking for a car that’s more powerful than the Mondeo but is still reliable (I’ve literally had no problems with it mechanically), and would also like something with toys (e.g. adaptive cruise and Apple CarPlay). Could be a decent buy for someone....
I have recently bought a low mileage, one owner, BMW approved 2015 528i for your budget, 241 bhp, 0-62 in 6.2 secs, more toys than I will ever use.
The 8 speed box is sublime, especially in sports mode, and I am currently getting 37mpg with mixed driving. I am also led to believe they are pretty reliable being a petrol engine with the timing chain issues sorted.
Even the run flats are not as bad as I was led to believe according to internet stories, and it has all the space you need.
It is fair to say that after nearly 20 years of Mercedes E Classes I am smitten.
