Noticed what appears to be a really smart Polo for sale privately, low mileage good history.Mid range petrol, 14 reg. Are these ok as runaround/ second/spare car. We had Golfs and Passat years ago but avoided VW subsequently as they were too dear.

They seem to be the modern day version of a corsa when it comes to suspension, we had 3 in last week all with broken springs, yes the roads are poor but these seem to break the front ones. The chain driven engines can have issues, coil packs can play up and if they have drums on the back the handbrake usually needs adjusting once a year.

Personally i'd buy a Fiesta or a Kia Rio.
