TIPS FOR HAGGLING/NIT GETTING RIPPED OFF BY MAIN DEALER?
Discussion
£12k sounds a decent px price to me.
As said above, sell privately. Be realistic with asking price though; somewhere midway between WBAC valuation and what respectable dealers are asking. So many private sellers ask dealer prices and wonder why they don't get any interest.
Once sold you are in a position of strength to seek a decent discount on what you are buying.

yet autotrader lists his car at value 12k(rough est), yet go through the hassle of trying to sell privately when such a mainstream car wouldn't really make sense. 12k seems a good offer. As said above, sell privately. Do your homework so you know what you should be paying and what they should be giving you for your car
Don’t take their first offer on anything
I never bother with GAP or any other insurance or protection but I know some people swear by them. They are like any other insurance and it’s whether you want the peace of mind. Remember that you can always buy the insurance and protection somewhere else if you want too
Be ready for the salesman needing to keep going backwards and forwards to a manager all the time. Just let them do the dance and ignore it as it’s part of the game in a lot of dealerships
Don’t be afraid to walk away or take time to think about it if you are not sure. They always have someone else just about to put a deposit on the car... Even if they do you are not talking about cars or deals that are unique so don’t be pushed into agreeing with their figures if they are not what you want

I’ve bought GAP on my last two cars but they were new, which is when you stand to lose the most money should you incur a total loss. The older the car, the less you stand to lose (and I suppose the lower the premium).
As above, whether you choose to get GAP depends on your attitude to this particular risk but I would suggest you never, ever buy GAP from a main dealer unless they can match a decent third party price (I’ve never managed to achieve this). They may try to tell you that third party cover isn’t as good as theirs, but they’re probably wrong and Defaqto is your friend.

Be realistic in your expectations on part ex price and the cost of the new car and don’t assume the dealer is going to rip you off.
I bought my current car through the local main dealer and was pleasantly surprised. Their pricing was very keen and it was hassle free. The part ex offer was the same as WBAC but I managed to sell privately a couple of days before picking the car up. Paid cash and politely declined all the various extra insurances, paint protection and service plans.
GAP insurance can be found online and if it’s an expensive car that’s likely to depreciate quickly is worth considering.
All the other stuff will depend on whether or not you feel it’s value for money but you are quite at liberty to decline it and just take the car.
I didn’t even ask for a discount because the car I bought was priced very fairly compared to anything else I could find. And I was happy that I’d sold my old car for a decent amount so that was that.

I would agree with others, £12k is probably about what to expect on your current car on a part ex. Sure, privately you would likely get more but how long do you have to wait for someone who has that money sitting round looking to buy your exact spec car whilst Covid restrictions are in place?
Being ripped off suggests they would be overcharging for a car but ultimately its down to you as the buyer to ensure you have done your homework and gone in with a realistic offer. If its up for say £25k, offering them £20k is embarrassing and you may as well save yourself the trip. Main dealers make the most money selling brand new cars with finance agreements, there won't be much haggle room on something used. Five percent off might even be a stretch to be honest. We got £500 off an £18.5k 330D last year with BMW and it was quite clear that was the most I was going to get.

Try selling through Motorway.co.uk.
I have no connection to the company, but recently sold a car through them and made 10% more than the trade in offers that I had received against a new car.
Well worth a try and massively more pleasant and professional than the WBAC experience or the cesspool of private selling on Autotrader.
Just a thought.

Interesting you think you have started negotiations, a main dealer will probably think they are pretty much at the end, bar a it of upselling!
You may well not get them to budge on the sticker price at all-they will be under pressure to keep used Audi prices high in their returns to HQ. If you've seen the car and tell them you'll do a deal today if they give you £12.5k for your 320d, they may bite, particularly if you seem to be prevaricating otherwise. They will also hope to upsell once the main deal is done (resist everything).
Any dealer has to make a profit on transactions, and also pay for the overheads of running a business. A main dealer will not be making much money on the Q7, or your 320d-both a simply make-weights in the only decently profitable transaction-the purchase of the new car that presumably they took the Q7 in p/x for. If you think you're going
So bottom line unless you're happy with the deal as is you're pretty much wasting your time as your business is not that important to them.
