Hi all. A potential car I want to buy - a BMW 218 convertible has had its first MOT and it has an advisory...

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

undertray

I am aware that sometimes advisories are issued with undertrays because the MOT tester cannot look underneath but normally the advisory reads something like...

"Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components"

Does my advisory mean  that the undertray is damaged or just obstructing a full check?

Also, whilst I'm here, anyone got any thoughts on keeping it outside all year- will this be OK? Finally, dies anyone have any views on the mechanicals for the roof - how reliable is the mechanism?

I wouldn't read anything into the undertray comment, and I think you'll be fine keeping it outdoors providing you keep on top of roof maintenance - my 3 series convertible had lived outdoors for 17 years and it's never leaked (yet! )
