2015/16 340i touring or 2011 S4 Avant

Flirting with the idea of changing my daily 2011 Mercedes C350 CDI.

Owned the car for circa 18 months now and only really doing 13k PA, based on 50mile round trips when going into the office, so not really needing a Diesel, although quite enjoy the vast amount of torque on offer.

I like to the look of the 340I touring but they are starting around £22k, I would probs get around 8k private for the C350, Meaning coughing up and extra 14k.

Started looking around at other estates and a the B8 S4 sit around 11-13k, meaning the 340i is around 10k extra over the S4, and only a few years younger (although age is not really an issue)

Anyone had an experience on either cars?

Sounds like the C Class is the one to keep.

Gone down the thought process of keeping the C Class and getting a ‘under 5k’ convertible for summer.

Like the SL500 but being a 2seater doesn’t help with our daughter......

I have a 2011 S4 avant, love it but expensive to run. it's manual so heavy on road tax £540 pa. I get 23mpg average, can sneak up to 29 if I leave it at 65 on the motorway. But that's not why I bought it.

Once they get on a bit you need to look at preventative work, PCV, thermostat, charger belt and oil, chain cam so tensioner etc etc. Coolant leaks can be an issue.

Look at the B8 S4 owner thread on here it'll give you a feel for the highs and lows.
