Occasional family car question...

A couple of years ago Mrs Iroc had a GLC (which she loved) and so when it was time for me to buy a 'commuter car' my options were fairly open and I ended up getting an auto Clubman Cooper S (which is a cracking little car). Move on a couple of years and a few things have changed...

- GLC has been replaced by an (even more loved) SLC, so no more family car.
- the Mini (whilst great) does suffer the usual N14 problem of weeping oil. Onto a new driveway.... Mrs Iroc not very impressed Add into this equation her missing the 'family car', not that we really need it (I guess it's better to have and not need than need and not have)

With the above in mind I'm curious about what can be found out there for c.£13k (the unknown cars thread hasn't helped here either!) which are reliable and nice places to be.

Criteria:
Almost certainly must be petrol
Fit chunky/6-foot plus people in the back
Fully loaded with passengers, and luggage, get to southern Germany in (relative) comfort
Auto (non-negotiable)
Modernish (not really older than a 62)
No mega-mileage cars

- An obvious choice would be another GLC with c.60k on the clock but they're a little too far out of budget (and tend to be diesel)
- I quite fancy trying to sneak in 300C in under the radar (would even consider a diesel in this one case, though a hemi would be lovely ), but in fairness probably a little big for her to be comfortable in
- Hyundai Genesis (cars never knew) seems amazing vfm, high toy count and reliable
- I think a Kuga might be a little small and an Edge or S-Max a little too big

Now the chances of anything happening are slim but.... it's looking at cars so I'm always up for that

I can recommend the Hyundai Genesis they're a cracking car with a nice amount of performance too, I've supplied four to people all who are very happy & you can extend the warranty too.

If you want some luxury with a level of kit that will make that run to Germany a breeze then the Genesis is the car.

Yes I do but I also recommend other options it depends on the OP's requirements in this case the Genesis is a good fit

Well after a lot of thing and spec'ing etc etc it looks like we've decided that the best all-rounder is the Skoda Superb, likely in Lauren & Clement trim with (hopefully!) The 220ish has lump.

Now just need to be patient for the right one....
