Need some help please - I normally buy from official dealer so this is the first time buying from a private dealer. really dont want to be scammed....

Did a HPI check on a land rover i am looking to buy. The car was registerd in Dec 2019, and a month later Jan 2020 immediate changed to a private plate. Private plate was then removed in January and old plate put back on in Jan 2021 (presumbaly transferred to the dealer)

I can see a PCP finance agreement has been recorded against the private plate and the VIN. There is also another entry for UNIT STOCKING finance agreement against the VIN most likely taken out by the dealer for the forecourt.

I will pay off the vehicle in one go, and presumablly the dealer will use this to pay off the unit stock fianance.

But who is paying off for the PCP? In my mind, the PCP would have been paid off by the private dealer already, so why does it still show up on th HPI check????

Another flag was there is a POLICE INTEREST flag against the PRIVATE plate (dating back to 2009). Given the car was produceed after the police flag - this is probably related to a the owner who has the private plate? maybe one of his car got stolen in the past?

Oh my - maybe i should just back out from the deal. Redline Specialist Car (Knaresborough) seems to have a great reputation though, judging from all the glowing online reviews.

Thanks for anyone's help.

The PCP has likely already been paid off, just not been cleared at HPI end. The dealer can call HPI and they will update immediately.

You are correct that the stocking finance will be paid off when the car is sold.

Police alert sounds like a red herring related to a different car.

Feel free to send me the reg if you want me to take a second look.

The reg for the car is MF69VRN. The personal plate with the police warning is S2NAU. Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

I am a newbie on the forum and the system doesnt let me send direct email to you.

These information are in public domain, so I think im fine disclosing these.
