We’ve had a baby and our current SEAT Leon Cupra isn’t big enough. The main issue is that the rear facing baby seat restricts how far back the front seat it’s behind can slide back. Currently my wife doesn’t have enough legroom.

Criteria set by the wife:

- Brand New/Pre Reg
- High up such as an SUV to make getting baby in and out easier.
- more rear seats space and bigger boot
- A decent turn of pace similar to Cupra (Under 7s to 60)
- flat boot floor to use as a changing table when needed.

My preferences are a petrol and as cheap as possible.

We tried an Audi E-Tron which was rejected on the basis of boot and rear seats being too small.

Options seem to be fairly limited. Cupra Ateca too small. X5 seems to fit the bill but pricey.

I know a small baby seat than the Cybex and an estate car is the answer. She won’t have it. I’ve probably been too extreme trying to persuade her into an 11k Dacia Duster.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Skoda Kodiaq with 2.0 petrol. It's basically the same engine as a Golf R or Audi S3, so can be remapped easily. APR stage 1 would see 300+bhp.

Also consider a 3008 in 300ho hybrid version.

XC90 T8.

The space behind the driver in our V90 CC is one of the main reasons I went for one. At 6'4" there is plenty of space behind the drivers seat even with it right back. Boots big but not as big as the boxy volvo's of old.

Kodiaq is a good shout though.

Plenty of VAG offerings, but none really come close to your performance requirements.

A Tiguan R does 0-60 in under 7 seconds.

Can’t order one in the UK yet though.

I don’t think it exists under £60k.

The Kodiaq is a decent shout. 7.4 to 60

Is a Kodiaq bigger than a Tiguan/Ateca?

Thanks

Kodiaq is bigger in the rear than the Tiguan and Ateca, the equivalent models are the Tiguan Allspace and Seat Taracco- mountains of rear seat and boot space

Alfa Stelvio comfortably meets your requirements possibly barring price but that’s really for you to decide.

Was/is fine with group 1/1-4 seats for us.

Is there more legroom in row 2? I had assumed the extra length had been dedicated to row 3 and the boot. Or perhaps there is adjustability?

The back seats are adjustable back, forward and recline, and the third row is a bit cramped. Ok for kids, or an adult for a shortish journey.

Have you got room for another car on the drive?

I tried the "one car do it all" thing a few years back and after 5 months I was bored so ended up selling it and going back to a family wagon, and a toy for the fun.

If not I'd be looking at a Kodiak, they do a sporty one.
