Ok..first my daughter likes all these, the insurance is fine, practicality is not important and mpg not important either ...

The budget is sub £2500 and she like the 3 door Rav4, 2005+ mx-5 and 1.6 I30

I have on autotrader all three of these with very good MOT history, 12 months MOT, vgc and from what the owners say reliable

Yes very different cars except maybe I think they are all Japanese or similar

so

1. Mazda MX-5 , 2006, 2.0, 73k , 12 months MOT, no rust
2. Toyota RAV4 , 2003, 2.0, 110k , 12 months MOT, no rust
3. Hyundai I30 , 2007, 1.6, 85k , 12 months MOT, no rust

Thoughts ?

cheers

If it's anything like the LWB one we had as a pool car years ago, the Rav isn't as bad as you'd think. The i30 is fairly bland but should be fairly reliable. MX-5 is the one I'd pick.

Exactly

i30 - bland but will never let you down
Rav4 - cool safe and reliable
MX5 - fun fun fun but can rust

Decisions !

RAV4 Seems a bit old and needlessly large for a first car where practicality isn't a concern.

i30 is probably the "Safe" choice, but I believe MX5 is always the answer in these parts. :P

So is it very likely that even a 2006 will suffer the dreaded rot.. ?

Anyone look at the MOT history...does it make sense to get an inspection on a 2006 mx5 ?
