My wife's best friend has to get rid of her CLK320 cabriolet because she lives in London and it does not pass the new ULEZ coming in next year.

She has £5000 to spend and an automatic only licence. She wants something that is modern and better on fuel than the CLK with minimum of 4 seats.

I have been tasked to find something but do not really know this market. and looking for some help please. Can be petrol or diesel but must be ULEZ compliant most importantly.

Thanks for any input

E9x diesels will not be ULEZ compliant.

At that budget she will need petrol, likely to be a lot more reliable too

Any petrol after 2005 is guaranteed to be ULEZ compliant iirc.

The ULEZ zone is already in Central London & may be rolled out as far as the North & South Circular if the Mayor gets re elected if he doesn't then it won't happen.

She wants a Fiesta now. Automatic with low VED. I'm thinking 1.0 eco boost Auto

Don't go for the 1.0t with the Powershift as these have issues with their dry clutches in their Dual Clutch gearboxes (VAG suffer with this issue too) so look for the 1.4 Fiesta with the conventional auto box:

1.4 Titanium

Or if she wants something newer with a conventional auto then the 208 is a great choice:
