Buying a used car privately in lockdown 2
Discussion
Is this still allowed? The MOT on my current daily runs out at the end of the month and was looking to buy another second hand car in the next week or so.
I am working through lockdown at a place of education and need a car for the commute. Was going to view a car today but the seller sent me a message saying I could get a £1000 fine if I go to view the car, would just like find put if this is true before I ring and discuss the situation.
Thanks in advance.

Long story short. Yes you can buy a car in Lockdown. I am working through lockdown at a place of education and need a car for the commute. Was going to view a car today but the seller sent me a message saying I could get a £1000 fine if I go to view the car, would just like find put if this is true before I ring and discuss the situation.

Not that you need to give any reason but if you WERE to be approached by officers then you can drop the "I'm a key worker" line.
The list of permissible things are not exhaustive so you can go out and do pretty much whatever you want.

Just say you have started trading cars. Not that you need to give any reason but if you WERE to be approached by officers then you can drop the "I'm a key worker" line.

Could you not just be honest as I assume you need a road legal car for essential trips - supermarkets, work etc
