I'm considering one of these as a replacement for my previous shape model, which is getting niggly. However I don't know that much about them, and really don't want to end up getting rid of mine plus about 10k only to find it's no better. To compound the problem, I don't do very many miles a year now, and an concerned the newer stuff with the DPF will be a headache. Anyone got one?

I'm trying to figure out if they're generally reliable, if they are a hassle when driven on regular short journeys and whether I should be considering the 1.6 which seems generally cheaper. I live in a city centre which means in the not too distant future probably some fairly stringent provisos on what vehicles attract charges. The 1.5 is Euro 6, the 1.6 isn't. I'm wondering which to go for out of the two, but I can't have an unreliable van. I'd rather pay extra charges.

i've come out of a Caddy, had this one since May, doesn't feel as quick but may be due to Auto box
fuel economy according to onboard computer again not so good, showing 45-47 mpg and has a small tank due to the AdBlue tank
we have a 67 plate which is not AdBlue but not sure if that is the 1.6 though?
the giveaway from outside is the AdBlue model have an elongated filler cap

Not heard any horror stories TBH but as i wont pay for any repairs smile....but one of the bosses is a Yorkshireman so i'm sure he's looked into the swap to Ford

spec can vary widely but i asked for Xenons, Auto as a minimum, should have come with Ford Connect ICE but for some reason didn't
got a wholly useless 150w 240v socket though

I ran a 2016 L2 Limited for 3 years which had the 1.6 (don't think the 1.5 was available at the time) which was 100% reliable & a surprisingly decent all round vehicle.

A bit like yourself, I was doing regular short trips (2>3 miles) & while this didn't cause DPF issues per-se, it did cause the occasional flattening of the battery. DFP regeneration would often kick in on short trips & when the van was stopped mid generation the cooling fans would run at full whack for quite some time, eating battery power.

Logic would suggest that you take the van for a good run after this occurs to get a regen cycle completed, but the regen wouldn't always kick in on the next drive & I didn't get round to figuring what determined the next regen attempt. In 3 years of running I had a (nearly) flat battery on 3 or 4 occasions, all in winter, but none that I didn't see coming, so none that let me down. The van would get stuck on a trickle charger when it was apparent the battery wasn't as healthy as it should be.

So not a fault, all down to usage & perfectly work-around-able.

6>7K P/A, so just under 20K when returned at 3 years old.
