Where to buy a car before/after moving to Denmark
Discussion
Hello ALL,
I would need some advice. Should I buy a car after or before moving to Copenhagen?
1, I can buy a car before I move (say: in Germany), I've heard: after I moved, I am going to need to pay a lot of taxes (or something like that)
2, I can buy a car after moved there -this way is the most expensive way (feels like, based on the local prices of cars there)
3, I can buy a car in Sweden for half price, take it to Copenhagen, and then I will have to pay a lot (tax)
Please give me some advice, what is the most efficient way.
Thank you

Thanks for the advises.
I got to point, where I just will drive to Copenhagen with a rental car, and buy something there.
I think I have to have an address there first, to be able to buy and register a car there. This way I can avoid the high registration fee, I mean I still have to register it to my name, but some tax (or registration fee for "foreign/import cars") can be avoided.
Do you guys know the specifics on this?
Thanks again

I lived in DK about 20 Years ago for 3 Years. Moved in with my Partners Parents initially.
Still together and my Danish is still reasonable.
I took an old Estate Car with me to move my stuff and intended to import it.
It would have been very expensive, so I had a Bicycle and borrowed my Father in Law Car occasionally.
There are guides and costs on the DK Tax Site for importing https://skat.dk/skat.aspx?oId=2234530
Are you going over to Work?
If so, could your Employer advise you?
Depending on your situation a short term lease might be suitable.
Quick Google. About £300/Month for 3-12 Month Lease on an Aygo. About £200 for a 3 Year agreement.

Not sure if leasing is an all-in cost or if you would still need to pay Insurance and Taxes
