I need some suggestions for a new car!

I need something cheap for now.I'll list some other requirements but there kinda all about even as in importance to me. Mostly I want something that falls into these categories fairly evenly, would be cool.I'm coming from long term E46 M3 ownership.

Possibly interesting.
Fun (fast not really required).
Decent MPG (preferably good)
Cheap maintenance/decent reliability

Random cars I've had thoughts of already:

Civic Type R EP3?, some FN2 Bargains out there in the £3000's that can't as bad as they say? some models even have LSD! but they're gonna be outta budget.
Clio 182? 197? 200 possible? Allways heard amazing about these to drive so wouldn't mind having one on my list of owned cars.
Sport Swift? Cool of the lower end of budget for a tidy one
Panda 100?
Ropey BMW 130i?
Mirca 1,6 SR thing
Mazda MX5 mk3 2006ish shape? Always heard great things, I'm sure about the image or looks 100%
Possible a small cheap Jap car maybe Aygo 1.0 3 cylinder or something?? I owned a 2006 Yaris 1.0 once and thought it was really fun for a month odd I used it, So cheap to run is a joy as I've never really owned an economical car before...But it genuinely felt like a toy but was comfy and practical to boot.
No Project cars... IE old classics (even though I love em) stuff that needs constant looking after or fear of driving in bad conditions due to corrosion etc

Nothings permanent not looking at something I want to keep for more than a year but hey if I really enjoy the car and need money for other things I might keep it longer who knows I know I'm being especially vague as I'm not really sure what I want I'd like some suggestions to intrigue me smile
