So, looking to get a 4x4 soon around 10-13K budget have looked at range rovers but liking the Cayenne GTS as well which seems worth it.

Either way, I want to do some defensive mods to prevent entry to the cabin and deter any crack heads from coming close.

Any tips please? have looked so far at tempered/ballistic windows, but would appreciate suggestions. I would also like to somehow have a painfully loud siren switch and some sort of blinding lights installed on the grille, more blinding than the HIDs we see nowadays.

Price estimates welcome, much appreciated!

The badlands of central London laugh

Depending on what you wish to achive, It could be £200k of custom armoured car:http://armoured.uk.com/premier-collection or £20 of Ebay sirens and trim tape.

To defend against something, you'll need at least some kind of threat modelling beyond crackheads. Opportunist theives? Carjackers? The majority of which could be prevented by locking doors, closing windows and using some defensive planning / driving to ensure that escape routes are open enabling a simple driveaway.

Thanks for the response!

I'm not too bothered about the body work being penetrated, but the windows should be able to withstand being hit by solid items; bricks poles etc.

Opportunistic thieves would be the main focus so a siren that can be controlled internally and extremely loud would be good and I just need suggestions on what kind of lighting to go for that needs to be mounted on the car.

Thanks again- and I'd like to get it done within about £1000ish so no tape needed I hope

A 10 year old car won't be thieves main choice. I would spend 1k on a holiday. Your requirements are ludicrous unless you a drug dealer in moss side.

What items of value are you carrying that needs to withstand bricks and poles.

For ideas/reference I would look at g4s/securacor vans.

You can use TOP300-R on automotive glass, it's BR1 rated. Needs to be anchored top and bottom though to avoid being "pushed" through the window opening.

Anything you do aftermarket wise will only have a limited effectiveness. Pentagon Glass Protection, Auto Lock on Doors, Disable Stop start, runflat tyres, ensuring you always have 1/2 tank of fuel and doing some advanced driving, evasive manoeuvring etc. Also id avoid low profile wheels, if going for a GTS, those wheels and tyres not not put up with accelerating across a curb etc at anything faster than walking pace!

Assuming this isnt a schoolkid dreaming and youre series then buy purpose built. Along the lines of a VR4 Built BMW such as: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-BMW-550i-Security-...tongue outf:0

'Owt is better than nowt' - As I heard someone exclaim once

Ah the thing i forgot to suggest was, 'remain inconspicuous!', a Porsche of any description isnt, my money would go on a 4.8i Se X5 (Fitted with optional acoustic glass (Laminated)) with all the options.

Nope, sounds like the OP is planning on 'shotting rocks' and will need to be sure his more eager clients remain in check.

Not exactly sure what OP has in mind....

Laminated glass on all windows is your best bet, should be enough to stop any blunt force going though windows.

Anything else would require significant rework to the doors and bodywork to accommodate the and armoured cars are not cheap. Occasionally one is available on a MOD disposal website/eBay.
