Tried leaving a 1 star review earlier for a trader I bought a car from, didn't contravene any of the moderation rules and yet it was rejected, posted again stripping out some wording and still it was rejected.

have contacted AT but in the meantime I was wandering if there's some sort of review fixing?

Anyone shed any light on it? Or Had similar?

From memory the dealer gets to review/moderate negative reviews.

All part of the Autotrader lunacy.

Mind me asking why 1 star, just nosey?

Poor after sales service and attitude mostly.

Thing is, because of the time difference between where I live and the uk it meant this happened at 4am, both returned immediately, can't imagine he was up at that time responding! He had a job to get in at 10am to open garage smile

had an interesting email back from AT saying they couldn't see any reason why the system rejected the review (so it is system based) so have re-instated it.

strange how the same thing happened to the 2nd review sent via a different email address, no contact details given on refusal email either

I said it had been suggested that dealers get to review low rating reviews, this was point blankly denied but dealers do get to contest reviews they feel are unfair or contravene moderation rules.

my paranoid thoughts are that the system bounces 1 star ratings and banks on most people not being that vindictive to follow up and having to search out a complaints form, but whatda I know..

AT are getting threatened with legal action by dealers, as they are facilitating what are sometimes false and damaging reviews

If youre going to manage a review system then i think factual evidence for damning ones should be a pre-requisite, ebay manage this with their feedback system.

We're on the other end of a review system with holiday rentals and have to do everything and beyond to ensure 5 star reviews but then thats how we want to operate anyway, its weeded out the ones who dont want to offer what they should.

We burst our nuts for customers but still suffer false or malicious reviews. Our main avenues of review are Google and Facebook, neither of whom will remove a review even when we can prove (as far as it is possible to prove a negative), that they are false.

Wouldn't bet my wages on it but I am near certain that when AT announced the customer reviews it was tempered with dealer oversight for negative scores.

Autotrader reviews are pretty worthless. If Autotrader did GP reviews, Harold Shi0man would be five star rated.

Thread Resurrection.

Seems not a lot has changed with dodgy reviews on AT. Just found this one while deciding to look at a car. It is long winded. The "[Dealership Name]" bit is how it really is.

Choosing the right car dealership can be a pivotal decision when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. The experience of buying a car should not only be hassle-free but also leave you with confidence in your choice. I recently had the pleasure of visiting [Dealership Name], and I believe that this dealership stands out as an excellent choice for several reasons. One of the most crucial aspects of any car dealership is the quality of their customer service. From the moment I walked through the doors of [Dealership Name], I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable about their vehicles. They took the time to understand my needs, preferences, and budget, ensuring that my car-buying experience would be tailored to my specific requirements. One thing that truly impressed me about [Dealership Name] was their commitment to transparency. They provided me with all the necessary information about the vehicles I was interested in, including their history, specifications, and pricing. I never felt pressured to make a hasty decision, and the staff patiently answered all my questions, making sure I had a clear understanding of the options available to me. The selection of vehicles at [Dealership Name] was impressive. Whether I was looking for a compact car for city driving, a spacious SUV for family trips, or a fuel-efficient hybrid, they had a wide range of options to choose from. This extensive inventory, combined with their helpful staff, made it easy for me to find the perfect vehicle that met my needs. The test drive experience at [Dealership Name] was another highlight of my visit. They allowed me to take my time behind the wheel, allowing me to get a feel for the car's performance, comfort, and handling. It was reassuring to see that they cared about my comfort and satisfaction during this crucial phase of the buying process. Negotiating the price of a car can often be a stressful experience, but not at [Dealership Name]. They were transparent about their pricing and were willing to work with me to find a deal that fit within my budget. There were no hidden fees or surprises, and I left the dealership feeling like I had received a fair and competitive offer. Beyond the purchase itself, [Dealership Name] also offered an array of after-sales services that gave me peace of mind. They discussed warranty options, maintenance plans, and even provided resources for financing and insurance. Knowing that they were there to support me even after I drove off the lot added an extra layer of confidence in my decision. In conclusion, my experience at [Dealership Name] was nothing short of exceptional. Their commitment to providing outstanding customer service, transparency in all aspects of the buying process, a diverse vehicle selection, and a stress-free negotiation experience make them a top choice for anyone in the market for a new car. I left [Dealership Name] with not only a great vehicle but also a strong sense of trust and satisfaction. I wholeheartedly recommend [Dealership Name] to anyone looking to purchase their next vehicle. Your car-buying journey will be in capable and caring hands."

I must buy a car from this lot asap. redcard

From experience Autotrader reviews are not really that accurate as a dealer can invite a happy buyer to leave a review but forget to leave one they know is a problem.

Earlier in the year we got a non verified 1 star review as we did not accept someone’s low offer. A quick call to Autotrader and it was removed.
