Dodgey car registration
Discussion
Hi, I bought a secondhand car last week. Everything lovely, hunky dory. But, I've just been sorting out the insurance details and I've discovered a problem. The numberplate is different to what it says on the V5. The V5 says it ends EVM, but on the plate says EVW.
This baffled me to begin with because I had done a car check thing and it was all ok. I then looked at the advert again and the photos show (which I used to do the check) show the car with the CORRECT plate i.e. EVM.
So why does the plate now show EVW? What I also notice is the W isn't a W, it's an upside down M.
Very weird, any advice?

Had this years ago from a main dealer, they made up the plates the day I picked the car up, but used the prefix HG (which was for the local area) rather than EG (which was the correct reg for the car). I guess they were just used to the local code. Luckily my dad noticed just before we drove off, salesman went off a bit red-faced and they knocked up a replacement. No big deal, on our way 10 minutes later, but since then I've always checked when picking up a car.
Have the plates been made up by the dealer? I imagine they have, but someone has mixed up M with W. Not great but get in contact with them and get them to replace asap.
