Acceptable sales rep cars worth having
Discussion
Open discussion really. What would you accept as a suitable sales Rep car that fits that delicate fine line between too flash and worth having as a PH.
I'm considering going down the route of car allowance rather than company car and wondered what options I could have but still be acceptable to the general public as target market. I'm thinking Skoda VRS, Insignia VXR, Mondeo st or dare I say it a 150+ BHP diesel all estates?
Thoughts welcomed.

I basically have free choice to get whatever I want if getting my own car and the allowance figure isn't really a major factor in the decision it's more wanting to drive something nice with out the customer thinking look at that swanky git I'm not buying from him he obviously over charges??? It will be a new job move for me and I currently have a discovery 2 worth about 3-4K but image can be the secret to success.

Re-mapped Yeti?
Mazda 6 MPS?
Mazda 3 MPS?
Golf GTi / R?
Legacy Spec B?
Early Monaro with supercharger conversion?
If you like living dangerously, Lancia Thema 8.32?
And the standard PH response, naturally...:
Mk1 MX5?

I think you need something with no 'image' in the general public's eye, so basically a Q-Car - something a PH cognoscenti would recognise but the great unwashed would go "Oh, it's just a [insert anonymous model here] that is nice and clean because he's looked after".

Dead right and got my question perfectly. Had thought about the skoda but more the scout. Also thought a R32 golf. Missed the 6mps and that's 4wd too which with where I live could be beneficial. Sorry no MX5 as it wouldn't sit well next to the TVR in the garage. Mazda 6 MPS?

It depends on whether you actually do proper rep miles, and so need your car as a tool. If you do, then something diesel would probably fit the bill, unless a particularly good petrol would suit.
I'd be happy enough with any of the usual suspects; an Insignia, Mondeo, Passat, 3 Series, A4 etc etc. If I were given a choice, I'd probably try for a Honda Accord or maybe a Civic. Ultimately, something that will take you as far as possible, as well as possible, for as little cash as possible, would be what I'd seek out.

45 minutes of my life wasted! I thought it was a parody to begin with. What a corker of a programme!I had this "dilemma" six months ago.
Opt in, diesel only, less than 130g CO2 etc, etc.
Opt out and only criteria are:
- less than 4 years old
- secure boot
- 4 doors
As this was going to be the family car too (replacing an 8 yr old Saab), Golf R Estate fit the bill perfectly.
It's not ostentatious, or shouty (like the ST), it'll do restrained, sedate when required, quick when needed. And it's very, very good.

Ooh, good call on the R36 - an ideal Q-Car.I have a Audi A5 coupe which I keep getting told should be a reps car. In s line 2 litre ultra tdi i get 60 - 65 mpg more like 55 when in dynamic mode. It is one of the nicest places to be in any car I have ever driven or been in. Might be a tad on the expensive side mine was 40k but got it down to 35 with carwow.
