In the near future I'm going to need a car capable of taking 2 full car seats and one high back booster in the back. I would much prefer an Estate to an mpv, suv or crossover as I have no desire for a high ride height. Looking at spending no more than 8k.

As I've always owned Vauxhall and never had a problem with them my first choice would be an Insignia SRi 160. I know they have 3 isofix points in the rear but don't know how easy it would be to fit the 3 seats.

Would consider other estates if anyone knows any that take 3 seats without much of a fight.

We looked at getting one car seat for a 4 year old and two baby seats. Struggled with the width in most estates and started compiling a spreadsheet of the distances between the inside isofix points of the outer seats. Even an E class which screams it's a taxi, it'll take anything, wasn't going to work. You may have more luck without the baby seats. The Skoda Superb may have worked but the wife didn't like it, the Octavia didn't work.

Anyway, a V70 just about does work for us. Just.

I'm sure it won't help, but we had to go up to an Espace.

Could you use one of the combination seats that integrates into a smaller footprint? i.e. Like these: https://multimac.co.uk/range

Not much use if you've got a big range between the kids, but could work.

On a tangent re. the E class comment.... taxi's are exempt from having to use car seats I believe.

There some cool car seats but rather expensive for the amount of time I'll need the 3 seats.

Been there tried it when our kids were youunger, found it too much trouble and bought an Alhambra :-)

Loads easier, height helps as well.

Don't write off an MPV.

Tried an S-Max last year to replace our main car and I was pleasantly surprised how well it drove.

Pretty nippy with the 2.2 TDCi engine.

I'd just rather not have an mpv as nice as some of them are I just don't like having a high driving position. If I have to take that route I will but I'll try every other option first.

I've a Honda accord tourer and it's impossible to fit three car seats in the rear. A6 Estate is the only one I know off that is able to take thee seats but only two are isofix mounted - the middle one is held by the seatbelt only.

I had to buy an S-max for the wife, she loves it and tbh so do I - it's surprising how good it is.

Another vote for the SMax here as well. Brilliant all rounder! We've got the 2.0 tdci and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Well if an A6 will take 3 then surely a Skoda Superb would as well. I know the Insignia has 3 isofix points in the back row not that I'm bothered don't even use isofix just gives a general idea of what will fit.

I do like the s-max and the touran though if I have to take that route.

We found that there isn't really a normal car that will take 3 of todays kids seats. The middle seat on an A6 (for example) is always going to be a pita.

We got an smax, with the plan of getting rid when the eldest is out of her booster and the youngest are just on boosters, which was last year but we kept it. It's not a great car and it doesn't handle like a car (no matter what they tell you) outs is a 2005 and the trim, interior and finish is st, but the thing is just so darn handy, so other cars have come and gone but for all 5 of us only the smax really makes sense. And the older they get the more mess and detritus they make and carry, short of buying a crew cab van I cant what else would do for 5.
