Parting with my current car, a Corsa VXR Nurburgring with 250 bhp, but I'm not quite sure what to replace it with? I was very keen on an Integra DC5 but I keep looking at RWD cars. So the question is, what can i get for under 10k, RWD, 250+ bhp that isn't TOO leggy? (Under about 75k). It's going to be more of a weekend toy for fast road/light track day kind of use so practicality isn't a massive issue, but I'd like to have enough space for the odd long weekend away etc.

E36 M3 Evo. Not sure on the price but I'm sure they're still under 10k.

Scrap that, didn't realize the prices. We're about 7k when I sold mine few years back.

How old are you looking at? I know you say sub 75k miles but there are plenty of 'modern classics' with that or are you looking for something newish?

For my budget, you're looking well over 100k miles or convertible haha.

Not really too fussed about the age of it to be honest haha.

hmm ok that opens it up quite a lot then. E30 325? They're appreciating strongly though might be hard to find one in your price bracket with the correct mileage.

Porsche Boxster/Cayman
E46 M3

Something a little less useable would be a VX220 or an older Elise. There are so many options out there.

Cheapest Elise on Autotrader is 13k... Cayman 12k...

What about the BMW 130/135?

I've seen Caymans below 10k and Autotrader isn't the only place to look for cars...

Just as an aside (and because I was idly thinking of trimming the fleet) - e36 M3s and e46 M3s are broadly around the same price!! About £12k for a reasonable example of either as far as I can see from a quick browse of the classifieds.

I can understand the premium with the e30s because of the motorsport heritage, but the e36 was a bit unloved as far as I remember, a bit more "GT" than sports car before the e46 return to form, and identical bodywork to the cooking models. I like the e36 (have a 323 convertible, and stupidly passed on a nice £5k M3 Evo a few years back) but would choose the e46 over it in a heartbeat when talking M3s...

S2000? 19 on AT right now within mileage and price. Not sure on practicality but maybe in with a shout if it's not too much of an issue like you say? Not too far off your power requirements. Probably a bit more reliable than other suggestions (making assumptions here).
