No harm in asking questions, and I thought this forum was all about the love of cars

Heard good things about them. Meant to be one of the top hot hatches about. Mpg is average 30-35mpg and the ride is fairly comfy for a sports car

Which version, the Mk2 or Mk3?

I've had 2 Mk3's, driving them on circuit as well as using them as a daily.

Reliability wise: I haven't had any issues with mine, routing servicing mainly. The thermostat on mine was fked, and didn't rev past 5.7k which is the telltale sign. It hits the cold limiter. £30 thermostat sorts it.

I get high 20's in mine, doing mostly moving town work. On a run I can eek out mid 30's.

Probably a Mk3 Megane. That's not bad mpg to be honest considering the power.

No harm hence the :-)

Nothing wrong with getting as much info as possible and looking at different choices.

Trouble is almost too much choice at your price and criteria.

So many good cars out there.

I am all about value for money ultimately don't want something that costs a fortune I just parts if something goes wrong. And holds it's value overtime.

No cup chassis which in these cars is a must. With 250+hp you need the LSD.

In regards to not costing a lot, these cars do scost some to keep on the road. I just had to fork out nearly £1000 on belts, thermostat and a general check over. Tyres, in 18" size are reasonable, but 19's are steep. They do need good tyres though, I get wheelspin in 2nd, with Contis, and a diff.

If you want something to run on a budget, a MK3 RS isn't it.

Thanks, I may have to keep looking then. Or there is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222473794988 So what is the difference with the cup?

19's are not overly cheap.

Brakes are quite expensive (aftermarket are better value)

Overall apart from that, not much to worry about. The bearings in the hubs can be an issue are are expensive also.

Looks like I will have to keep an eye out for a cup version. Is there much difference?

Yes as I said in the other post it has a host of chassis tweaks as well as the LSD you can identify them by the red calipers, you could buy a Lux (like the one I sent you in the other thread) & spec it with the Cup Chassis.

I am interested in buying that Trophy model to be honest, thats if its not gone. Would Renault spec it up or would I need to go to a specialist?

I could put it in the spec system, but it's all gibberish hehe

Looks like it has RS Monitor. It has the black 19' Steev wheels.

Trophy had recaros and cup chassis at standard. They didn't have climate, handsfre locking like nirmal cars IIRC.

Grey one is fine if you want leather, I prefer recaros.

White has no cup chassis so no LSD, pass for me.

Black one is a trophy which is the spec I would have (if you can live without keyless entry and climate control)

Yellow one has been oddly spec'd, no cup but sunroof and leather. Looks like it has visibility pack (Xenons) too.

Have you looked for a 275 Cup-S? How much do you want to spend?
