First car options for 17 yr old

Not for me but I'm struggling with advice for a friend. I bought a Citroen C1 for my son , we are both very happy with it , the insurance was a pleasant surprise c£1300 and its costs peanuts for everything else

But

A friends son bought a Peugeot 207 from a trader , long story short but it was a lemon and went back and its going to get messy ie legal

Said son doesnt fancy the C1/107/Aygo, Yaris, Jazz, Micra and hates Fords

Is thinking Polo or Corsa - My opinion is one is overpriced and the other dull.

Budget is £2k or so

Any other suggestions

EDIT: At 17, he's a bit young to be hating Fords. That usually comes after years of driving crappy Escorts, shagged Fiestas, and rusty Capris.

Its his first car, he doesn't really get a choice. He should be glad he has the opportunity to have a car at his age.
