My sister has an ex-racing greyhound.

This dog knows nothing about the concepts of voice commands, stairs, or jumping into cars.

It tries to run full pelt at her Corsa boot with the expected results. We have tried over the years to get it to jump in but to no avail.

It has to be lifted in and out like a princess. Crazy, I know.

My sis has health issues with join pain so lifting the dog is a pain.

What small, cool cars are there with low boot thresholds - her current 07 corsa is high.

She has looked at Vx Mokka, Ford Ecoboost, Nissan Note.

These are all a little "OAP" - my sis is 37.

Are there any funkier small cars with low boots? Oh has to be 5 door, as the shopping can't go in the boot. Oh and low tax banding.

We have just bought a new car for Mrs Oversteery and moving our ageing retired racing greyhound was a key requirement. Whilst less funkier than desired a 16 plate Honda Jazz Si isn't too bad. the back seat bottoms lift up and the dog goes in the back rather than boot. Very low sill/entry and it means Mrs O can keep all here work stuff in the boot out of sight.

Its a bit "old person" image, but the up side is an amazing number for sale with one owner and tiny mileage. Ours in 11k miles and its like new having had 3 main dealer services. Despite my predjucies, it actually seems a nice car - just wish it came in 2 litre version (although it is a VTEC wink)

Buy a folding ramp and lay a trail of treats up it the first time - hey presto, self loading dog.

Our one is like this - good quality, very durable and with decent non-slip:

Honda Jazz. Low boot opening, and with the 'magic seats' folded flat, the rear load bay is a considerable size. A dog would love it. Great little engines and good handling too. Very underrated cars.

+1 - my first thought was a ramp.

(And can we have a video of the dog trying to run full tilt into the boot without one....? wink )
