I guess there might not be such a car specific type loan (or maybe there is), but I am looking for a 2nd car, where I don't have to pay much interest. I have a specific car in mind, but the dealer doesn't work with any finance company, plus the interest would be pretty high. I also want to own the car, as lease isn't an option either.

Depending on the price...ever thought of a 0% interest card on purchases for say 12-18mths...then before the times up, balance transfer % to another card.....all you pay is the % they offer on the full amount for transferring?!

Thanks for the tip. The car is 25k, so I guess a loan is more what I need

Thanks again

Or apply for more than 1 card if the limit offered doesn't reach the purchase price. You can get nearly 4 year interest free cards if you look hard enough.

Good idea but be careful as you could stuff your credit card rating up with a lot of applications in a short space of time!

Anything below 5% on a loan is decent these days...mind some PCP's are around this anyway.
Perhaps see what you can get on 0% purchase first on say 2 applications
Worse case half of that 25k is on a 0% the rest on 3-4-5%

Reliant on a co-operative seller that takes cards, but...
£5k cash from you
£10k zero-interest balance transfer card
£10k Zopa loan

Probably only paying 4% on the Zopa, keep transferring the card balance as far as possible (effective APR about 3-4% depending on the deal)?

thanks so far

can get £3% on a 25k loan from a couple of banks (4yrs). I can justify it in my mind, but do I pull the trigger or not on what is really a fun toy? I have a history of making rash decisions, so I need to have a serious think :-)

Used nationwide to fund a car earlier this year. Low rates, easy finance and money in account next day.

Ended up paying it off without penalty as I managed to sell my car privately very quickly.

If it's new, have you tried the usual outlets mentioned on here that can save you money off the list price?
