My Dad had a nasty bump in his Astra few months and has lost confidence . His lease is up in June so it's time to look at the next one . He normally leaves it to me to sort but has said he wants something with a higher driving position but not as big as my Mrs qashquai - I'm a bit stumped as most are the crossover types sportage/ qashquai / Tiguan etc . He usually does a 3x36 months 10k miles and £250 monthly is the target price . Open to any suggestions

Honda Jazz? Although an elderly neighbour just dumped his mk2 Jazz and has gone back to an Astra. He's tall though, and found the B pillar position obstuctive.

Also if you're looking at new, then older people apparently aren't getting on with all the tech in the mk3 Jazz, especially the touch screen. Although many new cars are going to have that issue.

Kia Soul?

Or the Hyundai ix20 / Kia Venga?

Would have said Toyota Urban Cruiser, but it appears you can no longer buy them new.

A very dull suggestion for PH, but the C3 Picasso has a nice high driving position and is barely an inch longer than a typical hatchback. If he's not a badge snob and not put off buying a French car it's worth considering. Should be a country mile under budget even if you maxed out the options. The Puretech petrol for the mileage you mention.

Skoda Yeti.

Compact but very spacious, and available on some pretty good lease deals.

We use one as a family bus and absolutely love it!
