Im after a couple of new cars (his & hers) and speaking with a couple of dealers neither are prepared to offer 0% finance. They do offer free servicing for a few years and a lower on the road price if i take out finance but with the finance mark up im worse off to the tune of approx £2.5k on either car.Ive been told to take the finance deal and pay off the full amount within the first month but with low interest rates on my savings id like to have a 50/50 deal.

Ive seen this before but i cant remember what manufacturer it was..

I presume the dealers decide what deals are available so at the end of the day surely a deal is a deal whether it be 50/50 0% or full cost paid in one go..

Have i missed something?

How does the dealer pay for the car if you only pay him 50%?

The best finance deals are manufacturer supported offers. Dealers do not underwrite their own finance, they may use independant finance houses but rarely are they as competitive as a supported deal.

The 50/50 deals usually offered at 0% end up with the Total amount payable being list price or close to it. You'd be much better off with a low interest rate finance/loan on a large discounted Carwow sourced vehicle.

...because the money is provided by the car manufacturer's finance arm.

Which someone has to pay interest on.

The cost of which is worked into the overall deal.

So maybe, as someone else has already pointed out, a 50/50 deal at 0% isn't that good if it's based on the car's list price.

It's down to what offers the manufacturer provides. This will be based on what the market wants and will help sell cars. This type of offer couldn't have been that popular and has all but disappeared. Vauxhall was one of the Main ones that had these in the past. As some have said the discount disappeared which basically paid the interest that you would normally pay.

If you're not used to brokers carwow are not always the best regarding a good deal. Try Broadspeed and Drive the Deal.

Thanks,

Also thanks to all for your comments, worse case i will take out the finance deal and clear it straight away but the 50/50 deal gave me at least a year to have saved the other half and not have to take it from savings..

Day off car hunting is always fun wink

Edit: Ive just had conformation that i can do the 50/50 deal on the carwow price which is approx £2k less than rrp..

Are you really going to choose a car based on whether or not it has a 50/50 0% deal attached?

Try Skoda, they change the deals quite often - currently the Rapid and Octavia are available on 0%
http://www.skoda.co.uk/finance/finance-offers/defa...

Usually the popular/higher performance models aren't included though.
