Advice on buying a range rover and mpg
Discussion
Hi, I am looking to spend about 25k on a range rover vogue, I am a little confused by the differing engine sizes and stated mpg. Any advice on ones to avoid or look for? Which will get me the most mileage for my money? From what I can see I'm looking at a 2010/2011 plate for my budget. Thanks

ALL full-fat Range Rovers are thirsty.
The diesels are marginally less thirsty the V8 petrols. DERV only really makes sense in a FFRR if you are doing LOTS of long journeys, as low-speed refinement suffers in comparison to the petrols, plus the long-range fuel economy uplift of a diesel starts to make a case for itself.
However, the main take-away point here is that if you're worried about the fuel consumption of a Range Rover, buy something else.

I disagree on the fuel choice. To my mind the only one to buy is the Diesel. I'd cry even more if I had to spend even more time at the petrol station...
Expect 23 ish on school run type of stuff - up to (but not over 30) on a run - based on the 3.6 V8.
Don't buy a neglected one....
They are not economical, but they are a great place to move around the country.

You're looking at the wrong car if you're concerned about mpg
According to Honest John the 4.4 TD V8 will average 28 mpg, TDV8 27.5 and the 3.6 TD V8 24.6.Petrols are 17/18 mpg which makes quite a difference even if doing 10k miles per year.
OP, as well as being more frugal there is much more choice with the diesel and lots of 4.4 TD V8s about in your budget.
