Looking for a sensible option after selling my 911
Discussion
Hi all another what car topic...
So we currently have a classic 1972 Audi 100 coupe S and a TVR Griffith, and have been using our early 996 as our daily car when we not in the van. But having 3 two door cars is starting to get a little tricky especially now we have sold our defender. So am thinking of selling the 911 and buy something a little more sensible.
Looking for some ideas, will mainly be the wife's drive so needs to be nice on the eyes, we also have a mastiff so something with a biggish boot, no children's so nothing as big as a Q7
Have a budget of up to £14k but would be happy to spend half of that if we can...
Must have a few gadgets like Bluetooth for phones etc but not too fussy
Have been thinking about the following
Audi A4 avant
Audi all road but don't know much about them
Range Rover evoque although I'm guessing will be a dog at that price
And need something that isn't going to drop in value like a rock... not asking for much am I?
Thanks

Compared to the 911 everything at £14k is going to plummet. The 911 will never be worth less. Thanks
Got room for another car? Have a look in the smoker barges thread. Plenty of petrolhead semi sensible stuff in there.
I'd look at a well maintained E39 5 series estate
Although mine is a saloon its very good at wafting around in comfort, being a 540i it has a decent turn of pace too!
Also it should hit your depreciation criteria (mine has just been written off and appraised at near double what I paid for it 4 years ago...£3k - £5.5k) and cost only 25%-30% of your budget for a decent one

Totally agree with you, the thing is if I parked it up I wouldn't drive it... the TVR and Audi make better weekend cars, then I'm stuck with another road tax and service cost. But I really don't want to let it go as I know once I go sensible it's hard to go backGot room for another car? Have a look in the smoker barges thread.
